Anita Beverton
Title: Head of Learning Disability and Safeguarding Lead
Team: Operational Performance Group
Anita was appointed as our Head of Learning Disability Services in July 2024 after previously working as Regional Manager for our West Sussex learning disability services for 12 years. Anita is also Southdown’s Safeguarding Lead alongside Rah Bray.
Joining Southdown in 1997 in a support worker role, Anita has worked in a number of frontline and management roles at Southdown over the years, including qualifying as a trainer and facilitating training courses for colleagues across the organisation.
Anita has over 24 years of experience working with people with learning disabilities. Previously, she worked in a number of support settings, and roles included coordinating a respite service. She has also been actively involved in volunteering to combine her passion of music and supporting vulnerable people.
In her role as Head of Learning Disability Services, Anita ensures we enable our clients to live the life they want to. She oversees the strategic direction of the services and provides support to managers and teams as needed.
Anita says, “I have a real passion to ensure that people with a learning disability are afforded the same opportunities as everybody else. I know from personal experience the challenges the whole family can face when trying to secure the right support for a loved one’s individual needs.”
