New ‘Southdown Moves’ service launches in Brighton & Hove
Posted on 7 November 2022
Launching on 1st November and delivered by Southdown, the ‘Southdown Moves’ service will provide accommodation, housing management and support for people with low support mental health needs in Brighton and Hove.
Brighton and Hove has some of the greatest challenges for delayed transfer of care due to the more pressured and expensive housing markets, long waiting lists for accommodation and the greater demand for mental health services.
Reducing inpatient length of stay and delayed transfer of care are key priorities for the City. The aim locally is to continue to develop and improve services offered enabling quicker move on through supported accommodation services and to provide long term accommodation solutions for people in need.
Clients of the new service will be supported to maintain and improve their mental wellbeing, whilst being accommodated for up to two years (depending on personal need), at which point they will be supported to move on to independent accommodation.
The service is funded by Brighton and Hove City Council and forms part of the Brighton & Hove Mental Health Supported Accommodation Pathway.
